"Yeah 3X" Chris Brown

Love West Side Story?  Chris Brown's pretty much revealed that in his latest music video for his new single "Yeah 3X."  His pop song will most likely become a party anthem with its techno style beats and instructional lyrics.

Now everybody put your hands in the air.

According to Rap-Up.com, "Breezy is back on the block...shows off his fancy footwork in the high-energy video" for his fourth album F.A.M.E. (Forgiving All My Enemies).  The video shows a hyped up block party with little kids and fly chicks.  After all the controversy with Rihanna and his last release "Deuces" finally letting go of the drama, Brown's dropping the R&B act for a more peppy return.  " 'Yeah 3X' is a club-friendly track that praises the object of Brown's affection," claims Charley Rogulewski of The Boom Box.

"The Arcade" Hyper Crush

There's nothing better than electro-pop and hip hop lyrics and the sassy voice of Holly Valentine and her boy toys Donny Fontaine and Preston Moronie.  These three members form the time travel group Hyper Crush who reside in LA who tell their tales through high tempo beats and make you want to dance.


They started out in 2006 with Fontaine and Moronie as the ıel-Airs, but found they needed to change up their style and sought out Valentine.  Like most underground bands, they got their break on MySpace and began playing around LA and the rest of California.  They've sampled lots of ideas from the 1980's and early 1990's, like Nintendo's games Duck Hunt and The Legend of Zelda.


Hyper Crush released their album The Arcade in May 2008 which contains 13 tracks of electro power.  In November 2008 they signed with Universal Motown and is taking their time in releasing their second album.  "Making new music is important to us and we want to give that to our fans," Valentine stated.

You want to dance and bob your head to the sounds of modern 80's, this album is for you.  I've listened to this band for a few years now and think they're on the rise to take over with neon sunglasses and party anthems.  "The Arcade" single starts with Duck Hunt and ends in Zelda.  Who can seriously get away with saying "Bouncing like Donkey Kong I'm going Ape Shit!"  None other than Hyper Crush.

Some other great tracks include "Sex and Drugs" and "Candy Store."  Let the beats speak for themselves.

Are You A Gleek?

What airs every Tuesday night and manages to have at least five songs on the Top 10 on iTunes by Wednesday?  Everybody's favorite high school sing-a-long Glee.
We bit through with High School Musical's trilogy, with a rumor of a fourth, now we're obsessed with another teenage drama story of misfits and love triangles all through song.  Glee is one of the most top rated shows out today at Number 2 to NBC's "America's Got Talent," according to the LA Times.

They're a show that does remakes of famous bands and singers.  So why do they always manage to beat top artists?  May be it's caused by their enthusiasm or blend of different genres.  Maybe because each episode has an average of seven popular songs.  The tribute episodes to Madonna last season and Britney Spears this current season gave them a push in the Billboard Top 40, however, "due to the availability of new releases accompanying each new episode of "Glee," a relatively small number of the cast's recordings have spent more than one week on the list"

Artists have turned down the opportunity to have their songs remade on the FOX TV show.  With it's popularity blooming, more and more artists are considering grabbing the chance to get their music listened to , according to a Rolling Stone article. The royalty checks don't hurt either.

Love it or hate it, Glee is here to stay.

"Is This Love?" Corinne Bailey Rae

Making a comeback last year with her aftermath tragedy album The Sea, Corinne Bailey Rae has released a single covering Bob Marley's "Is This Love?"  No one's really sure why this single was released.  Could it mean a new album of soulful lyrics in the making?  Or could it be a deluxe version of the last released album?

After a year of success and making a splash in her native home of England and in the States, Rae experienced the tragic death of husband and saxophonist Jason Rae from a drug overdose.  Two years passed when Rae had rediscovered her love for music and came out with her sophomore album The Sea.  "Loss is one of the themes on the record, but also I think love is a really important theme on the record, as well," Rae told CNN reporter Denise Quan shortly after her husbands death.

Now with more time passed, her release of the Marley cover gives more soul and funk to the 1978 hit.  "Trickling ivory keys introduce the Marley favorite, as the English singer delivers improvisational, solidified vocals backed by subtle, yet touching harmonies," says AOL Radio.  She was always able to captivate listeners with her harmonic voice.  Need a moment to relax and step away from the busy life of every day, take a listen.

"Doo-Wops & Hooligans" Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars "Doo Wops & Hooligans

 From his sweet and sultry vocals on the summer hits "Billionaire" and "Beautiful Girls," Bruno Mars has stepped up his game with a debut album filled with random catchy songs and varying head bobbing styles.  The album, Doo Wops & Hooligans, was only released a week ago and already seems to be playing on iPods all over.

Mars ranges from a Jason Mraz feel on "The Lazy Song" to his tear-jerking Top 100 hit "Just The Way You Are."  The 25-year old Hawaiian singer sings melodies about the tough economic issues of everyday life in "Liquor Store Blues (f/ Damien Marley)" which soothes with a reggae rift throughout to doing dumb things like in "Marry You."

According to Rolling Stone writer Jody Rosen, "Call it bubblegum that eats like a meal."  Each song has a different style and mood attached to it.  The album as a whole is 10 songs that everyone can enjoy no matter what music genre you prefer.  Luke Gibson of Hip Hop DX feels that "Doo Wops & Hooligans is a debut that Bruno Mars will one day could look back on to regret."  He sees no cohesive narrative from song to song.

By far, "Grenade" has got to be one of the best songs and could most likely be a next big hit for Mars according to iTunes ratings already.  Appearance on tracks include Cee-Lo Green, B.o.B., Damien Marley and Lupe Fiasco on the remix of "Just the Way You Are."

Overall, Bruno Mars has a sporadic vision that catches the attention of many.
